Baby Lock Bloom (model BLMBM) is a combined sewing and embroidery machine rather than a sewing-only model with an embroidery add-on. Baby Lock lists 251 built-in stitches and 342 built-in embroidery designs, with a native maximum embroidery field of 5 by 7 inches. The machine also supports USB Type A and the .pes, .phc and .dst design formats, and Baby Lock lists an embroidery speed of 650 stitches per minute. One detail that is easy to misread is the 5 by 12 inch EF85 hoop. Bloom's normal embroidery field is still 5 by 7 inches. Baby Lock describes the larger accessory as a multi-position hoop, which lets the fabric be repositioned within the hoop for a larger layout. Bloom's native embroidery field remains 5 by 7 inches.
Compatibility context
For replacement parts, the useful distinction is between the machine's basic bobbin system and its embroidery accessories. Baby Lock lists Bloom for the BLG-BOB Class 15 bobbin and also lists it for the EF85 multi-position hoop. The EF85 product page contains conflicting metric dimensions.
