About this machine
The original Baby Lock Solaris, model BLSA, is a sewing and embroidery combination machine with a 10 5/8 x 16 inch maximum embroidery field, IQ Visionary projector, 13 inch workspace, IQ Designer, 861 built-in decorative stitches and 740 built-in embroidery designs.
BLSA marks the original Solaris
Baby Lock's official page identifies the first Solaris as model BLSA. Solaris 2 is BLSA2 and Solaris Vision is BLSA3. Those are separate model records, not cosmetic aliases.
The maximum field stayed 10 5/8 x 16 inches through several generations
The original Solaris already has the 10 5/8 x 16 inch maximum embroidery field. Later Solaris 2 and Solaris Vision pages keep that maximum field while changing built-in content and transfer or monitoring features. The field size alone therefore cannot identify the generation.
Upgrade availability is not the same as factory specification
Baby Lock's Solaris page still links several upgrade kits. Optional upgrades can add features beyond the base BLSA specification. Check which upgrades are installed when identifying a used Solaris.
