About this machine
The JUKI LS-1342 is the small-article-gauge version of the LS-1340 series without the -7 automatic thread-trimmer package. It uses a vertical-axis 1.6-fold-capacity hook, is rated to 2,500 stitches per minute and uses 135x17 needles from Nm100 to Nm180.
The small-article gauge is the point of the LS-1342
JUKI specifically assigns the LS-1342 a gauge for small articles and describes the series as capable of sewing tubular work down to about 40 mm diameter. That is more useful identification information than repeating the shared 135x17 needle system.
LS-1342 is not LS-1342-7
The -7 model adds the automatic thread trimmer and standard automatic reverse-feed function. A shared small-article gauge does not give the plain LS-1342 those automated functions.
